ORGANIC BOOST FOR GROWING YOUR OWN BEANS & PEAS
We’re always on the lookout for great products that help folks grow their own healthy food here at Gourmet Seed International. Once such recent find is an organic, OMRI listed product by INTX Microbials, LLC.
This is a blend of natural, beneficial bacteria designed to help the growth and production of a wide range of legumes, including green beans, peas, lima beans, and fava beans, sold under the product name of GUARD-N. Through a symbiotic relationship, these bacterial strains aid legume plants in their efforts to pull in and attach nitrogen to their roots, a necessary nutrient. Although these bacteria are naturally occurring, there are many reasons you may need to boost their levels in your soil, such as harsh conditions, high or low pH levels, or if you have not grown a related legume in that soil for a number of years.
In field tests, GUARD-N showed improved growth even in 80% of soils not thought to need this help. This means that you can use this natural method to improve your legume production, reducing the need for fertilizers, always a good thing for organic, healthy food.
The inoculant comes in powder form, and application is easy, requiring only the seed you are planting, water, and the inoculant.
