Boundaries

When ‘Pup moved to the house we live in, he lived here alone for the first 4 years or so. Then, his health took a nose dive, and he was unable to live alone. He was attending a little church and at the church he was introduced to a young man who needed a place to live. It was a fateful match.

Thus, the era of the crazy Cajun (hereafter to be known as the CC), began in ‘Pup’s life.

Their friendship started slowly, as the CC learned what ‘Pup would accept in his house, and what he wouldn’t. ‘Pup didn’t demand the young man attend church, unless he wanted to, but ‘Pup didn’t want things like taro cards in the house. The CC complied, and soon ‘Pup gave him a key to the house and they set up an arrangement.

‘Pup moved out of the master bedroom, giving the CC some privacy, as it had a door for him to come in and out when he wanted to, without disturbing ‘Pup, who was working nights. They even got some discount door hardware and made separate keys for the bedrooms. That way, if the CC wanted company, ‘Pup could be sure that no one was going through his stuff.

The arrangement worked well for a while, and got ‘Pup through his health crisis and became a friendship.

Like many male friendships, a woman broke them up. She crossed boundaries she shouldn’t have and presumed too much.

No, it wasn’t me.
