The garden is in suspended animation right now. Not moving forward or backward it is enduring the cold temperatures. The deer are making stealthy appearances and this Umbrella Pine, Sciadopitys verticillata, is a slow grower that is deer resistant. I think not. The tulips are also suffering but I will start spraying again and maybe spread some dried blood. Even the daffodils had a bit of munching going on.
Perhaps deer fencing is in order. The snowdrops are closed up tight as can be today as are the crocus and the one spot of color is this Heuchera
which I planted last fall. That is it. The cold continues and spring is being a bit elusive this week. It can’t last and at least I can enjoy the flowers in your gardens.
